‘Imagination or Daydreaming’ is a very common saying and a most favorable hobby among the children and youths. One of my favorite hobbies is also Imagination. But have we ever thought of the secret behind this saying? Are we wasting time in imagination? Are we able to transform our imaginations into reality? Here, starts the step of thinking or a step more than that i.e. Imagination.

BISHNUPRIYA MANIPURI SOCIETY BANGALORE ALIVE OR DEAD? - Santosh Sinha

The Bishnupriya Manipuri Society Bangalore conducted Rathayatra and Bhashadivash celebration on 2nd July 2006. It is clearly visible in the banners that the celebration is organized by BISHNUPRIYA MANIPURI Bangalore. The reason behind emphasizing on the phrase BISHNUPRIYA MANIPURI SOCIETY BANGALORE is that it raises a question mark on the existence of such society in Bangalore today. There is no doubt that this society took birth on or before 2nd July 2006 as it celebrated the Rathayatra and Bhashadivas, proved by the photographs included. On the other hand, there is no proof that the society is still alive and exists in Bangalore as we have not been seeing any Bishnupriya Manipuri related activities conducted by this society after 2nd July 2006. Now there may be some reasons behind the MAUN BRAT taken by BISHNUPRIYA MANIPURI SOCIETY BANGALORE..

Bimal Singha’s Death - A CID inquiry and not a CBI inquiry.

In the fourth left front ministry formed in 1998. Bimal Singha was given ministerial berth. But he was passing through a very crucial phase of his life. His brother Bikram was abducted from a place near Kamalpur days before the election to the legislative assembly. Bimal Singha was reportedly in a low spirit all through the swearing-in ceremony. Depression was eating him up.

Conflicts that Bimal Singha faced as a leader, as a politician.

The third left front government (1993) did not include Bimal Singha in the cabinet; instead, he was made the speaker of the legislative assembly. There seemed to be a distance being apparent between him and Nripen Chakraborty, Chief Minister of the first and second left front governments of Tripura and the most powerful person in the state’s ruling Communist Party.

Bimal Singha’s father, the daredevil Laxmi Kanta Sinha

Bimal Singha (born 16 Oct. 1948) was more or less a “midnight’s child’. Rupashpur, his birthplace is a tiny village stuck between the Indo-Bangladesh (formerly Indo- Pak) border and Kamalpur. India had gained independence amidst communal riots and partition. Kamalpur, a frontier town had witnessed the worst of partition and was struggling to survive the trauma of the great shake. His father was a struggling government contractor. Thanks to his father’s whimsical nature, Bimal Singha saw penury and destitution at close quarters and an early encounter with privation and helpless suffering shaped up the course of his life.

The Tribal’s Misery, a raging obsession for Bimal Singha

To combat one of the SFI movements, a regular occurrence in the seventies, the police had to arrest Tapan Chakraborty, a fellow SFI activist (later a minister in the third left front ministry in Tripura). Bimal Singha brought the town’s administration to a standstill that day. While staging a demonstration before the SDO office, police resorted to a mild lathi charge on the students. Some of the students had begun to show signs of backing away when Bimal Singha snatched a stick from a policeman and gave the fight a new turn. The law enforcers gave away. The sub-divisional administration bowed to the students demand and released Chakraborty.

Incredible, impossible literary exploits of the mighty Bimal Singha

Besides Bishnupriya Manipuri, his mother tongue. Bimal Singha also wrote in Bengali and he was a great connoisseur of Kokborok literature. Some of Bimal Singha’s acclaimed works are:
1. Longtorai: his magnum opus. A vivid portrayal of life in Longtorai, a hill in Tripura. Under running the portrayal is an almost surrealistic story of what can be termed natural love, estrangement, hunger, famine, diaspora, repatriation and reunion. An all-encompassing account of the Reang community with great anthropological value. Calcutta University has recently included this novel in the course of Bengali literature for Master’s degree students.

The Unsung Creative Genius and Tripura’s first feature film maker - Bimal Singha

Besides working for the poor, Bimal Singha had been nurturing literary ambitions. His writings began creating ripples in the literary circles. Perhaps the wounded feeling at not being offered a ministerial berth motivated him to take up writing more seriously. His works bear testimony to his devotion to the cause of the poor and the oppressed. He created Tripura’s first feature film “Longtorai’

Bimal Sinha rescues a bunch of Indian teenagers from East Pakistani soldiers – By Karunamay Sinha

The decade Swinging Sixties was drawing to a close. One sultry afternoon the people of Kamalpur, a sleepy sub-divisional town in Tripura were startled out of their noonday siesta. A group of school students – a prankish bunch of teenagers – was seen advancing in a procession towards the Indo-Pak border (Bangladesh was East Pakistan then). Armed with a loud speaker the procession was being led by a student leader, a tall, fair, lean youth of around twenty. Anxiety writ large on their faces, the meek citizenry watched the most innovative display of a protest march.

FRIENDSHIP - Babita Sinha, New Delhi

Friendship, the word itself is relative and has a deep selfless meaning. Friendship is synonymous with fraternity of like minds. In the present world of competition, real friendship often goes fade in the presence of prominent hostility and selfishness. We can see more of colleagues and mates in the present generation relationships, which people often, define as friendship but which is actually not. The real friendship can only be tested in tough times as it is said that “A Friend In Need Is a Friend Indeed”. Everyone wants to be friend with the person who is successful in life and the same person becomes friendless when success goes away from him. In a way we can say in the present day context, earning friendship is directly proportional to success. More success more friends and vice versa.

Do we run the Great Arjuna's blood in our veins?

The state Manipur always has been styled as a kingdom without much of remnants of palaces, rich monuments and temples. Historical temples and monuments are very few. The earliest temple which is believed to be of the 15th/16th century AD is the Vishnu temple at Bishnupur now called as Bishenpur. Non availability of monuments prior to it is perhaps due to the fact that as the art of making bricks was unknown in Manipur at that time , constructions were made of wood and other perishable materials which are easily weathered when exposed to tropical and sub tropical climate . Anyway the stupa type of roof of the Vishnu Temple, the hut type temple of Krishna and other monuments at Imphal indicate the influence of both Buddhist and Vaishnavite Hindu architecture. to know more :)

FROM CAREER OJA - 03 MAY, 09

For the last one decade I have seen a huge influx of Bishnupriya Manipuri migrants in to big cities like Delhi, Bangalore,Kolkata, Chennai and Hyderabad too.

And there are debates like we have not received proper infrastructure or support in past otherwise we could have done much better so on and so forth. We talk about not getting infrastructure and family and financial support. But what we will say that JNU has some students whose parents live below poverty level or Jawaharlal Navodaya Vidaylaya has sent 700 students to prestigious IIT.

Are the two communities GOD's own SIAMESE TWINS?

What’s common between Bishnupriya Manipuris and the Meities? Why there are similarities

Culturally the Meiteis and the Bishnupriya Manipuris cannot be distinguished from each other. As to religion it goes without saying that these two sections have formed a unique religion. The Bishnupriya Manipuris accepted all the prominent Gods of the Meiteis, namely Sorarel, Pahangpa ,Senamahi , Apokpa and others, just as the Meiteis adopted numerous Hindu Gods. As the next step when the Vaishnavism of Sri Chaitanya entered Manipur, all these two sections, excepting some spurious cases, adopted the religion. This religion brought a radical change in the Manipuri Society and both the Meiteis and the Bishnupriya Manipuris were equally influenced by it.

Dear Mr. Boyle, Firstly apologies for not being immediate on my appreciation towards your brilliant piece of cinematic work. I know I am terribly late but not to worry, it can be compensated. If the Loktak cries for us, why are we called the Mayangs?

Why the terms ‘Mayangs’ and ‘Khais’?
The term Bishnupriya Manipuri has become an apple of discrepancy between the Meiteis and Bishnupriya Manipuris. The Meiteis hold that they are the real Manipuris inhabiting the land while the Bishnupriya Manipuris are the descendants of some Bengalis who entered the land only a few years back. Accordingly, they call the Bishnupriya Manipuris ‘Mayang’, i.e., foreigners or westerners. On the contrary Bishnupriya Manipuris hold that they are the real Manipuris inhabiting the land from the time of Mahabharata war and that the Meiteis are the descendants of some immigrants from the surrounding hills to the valley. They accordingly call the Meiteis “ Khais” i.e., the people of the Chinese group.

Dude of the Week, mar 28 - April 6, Pranesh Sinha, new Delhi

People!!! This is a slightly different Dude of the Week. No questions have been asked here. No answers taken. No BMQ test conducted. A great man once said, ‘In some cases, you don’t ask questions. You just keep your mouth shut and do the needful – which is realize, recognize and recognize loud and clear’. Clean applause – no idiotic, cunning self protecting strategic appreciation. No backhanded or stingy compliments, but plain, genuine applause for a good, honest work done. Many a times, well most of the times a compliment or recognition is not directly proportional to a good job done. At times an appreciation is deliberately misplaced or given a cursory mention. We detest this skill. It is a fine form of cowardice.

Seek Justice for Bimal Sinha – By Henryy Sinha

It took two months, for us to get two articles on Bimal Sinha's assassination, post my piece on the biggest shock, setback and embarrassment of our community  on the beginning of this website on the 5th of January 2009! It was followed by Dhruba Sinha after 23 days and now by Kutu Sinha almost after a month. The number is less, given the gravity of the issue. But we are inspired. At least these two have taken the courage to speak up, ask, demand an answer.  I am sure many more will. Not just the Bishnupriya Manipuris, but other communities of Tripura as well – the Tiberas, the Bengalis etcetera.

This Campaign will stay alive, to keep the questions of our people alive.  We could not save Girok Bimal Sinha from those brutal killers.
But let us not assassinate his soul by injecting a stubborn dose of silence into our consciousness. Let us at least allow his soul to rest in peace by digging out the truth behind his brutal death.

Charity begins at home. The campaign to seek justice for Bimal Sinha has now begun. Join us. Its time for us to retain some lost pride.

HAPPY HOLI

CAREER OJA,  Yours Sincerely, Surajit Sinha, 10 mar, 09

Though our aim is to help each and every people of our community, our main focus will be to those who are less skilled and out of box options. In my recent studies I have hear many times about BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) countries as the growth engines of world economy. Today business is not limited by boundaries. A country cannot survive living in protectionist economy. You have to open your borders for the development of your economy as well as others.

( An article to me is at times boring. They are sometimes, untrue, manipulated, self serving and in some cases downright pretentious. However, a letter I feel is more forthcoming in its very DNA. You complain, praise, abuse, talk, write  – and its likely to be very honest. This letter emailed to us  by Biswajit Chatterjee  is something we wanted to share in it's own entity. Initially we were planning to put it up in the site's  'Feedback' section as a natural instinct. However something about the letter changed our minds. No. It doesn't have bombastic words or complex sentences. It doesn't even have anything new to say. Thats perhaps not the writer's intention. But Biswajit Chatterjee does put across to us a  powerful thought. A very powerful thought.
We present this letter to you not to chest thump as he has a few pleasant words for us, but to essentially tell ourselves that YES, we Bishnupriya Manipuris do have our own reasons to feel good about each other – if we intend to. Read on this letter,  you too might find a few reasons to be a proud Bishnupriya Manipuri.  –  Henryy Sinha, Editor)

MAHASABHA SHOULD APPEAL TO THE GOVT. OF TRIPURA TO INVESTIGATE BIMAL SINHA'S ASSASSINATION : by dhruba sinha, Meghalaya

Heart-felt thanks to Henry Sinha for raising the issue of Bimal Sinha’s assassination. I appreciate his way of presenting it – thought provoking and all. But as a thinker I personally think such reticence is of no consequence in this society. Or, may be, we are way past that stage of generic, broadminded thinking. It’s time we asked pin-pointed questions. Say, what did the Mahasabha do in regard to this matter?
